Statistics shows that Americans spend more on alternative/integrative than on conventional treatments. 90% of cancer patients in Taiwan look forward to integrative treatments. The practice of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is originated from the US and have developed quickly especially in cancer treatments.

The results of our preclinical scientific studies have identified apoptosis, molecular targeting and angiogenesis mechanisms on botanic extract which has strongly inspired and encouraged our study team to initiate further study on humans.

The phase IIa clinical trial protocol was submitted to the IRB of the medical center at National Taiwan University on October 25 of 2008 and approved on February 27 of 2009. The protocol, a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel study to evaluate the safety / tolerability and efficacy profiles of THL-P oral solution, in subjects with metastatic breast cancer refractory to conventional treatment modalities, was designed strictly following the guidance of FDA regulations. This clinical trial has been protected by a Germany Patent “herbal product treating people with cancer,” which was approved on April of 2009.

According the statistics data of American Cancer Society in 2007, Lung cancer is, by far, the most common fatal cancer in men (31%), followed by prostate (9%), and colon & rectum (9%). As for women, lung cancer (26%), breast cancer (15%), and colon & rectum cancer (10%) are the leading causes of cancer death. An estimated 465,000 breast cancer deaths in women were expected in 2007.

This clinical trial is only the beginning to achieve our goal which is to respond to the needs of the total care from cancer patients around the world to help improve their immunity and quality of life. We are enthusiastically seeking partnerships and collaborations medical centers to engage in advanced studies and experiments in Europe and the US.
